Installing Embedded Apps

Overview

In order to scan and process documents with Umango directly from the panel of a multi-function device, the Umango embedded app must first be installed on the device. With Umango cloud instances or Kyocera, Toshiba and Sharp devices, this process is manual. The embedded app availability across MFD brands is always growing - check your MFD brand for current support.

For Umango Cloud, the management of devices requires the Umango browser extension which is available from the Google Chrome or Mozilla FireFox add-in/extension stores. For further information on how to discover, install and manage devices using the browser extension with Umango, read the related knowledge article in the Umango support center.

Note: the browser extension will not be available for use until the Umango dashboard is reloaded in the browser.

Installing Apps To Devices

Installing the embedded apps to devices is the same process for on-premise and cloud (assuming the browser extension is installed). Once your devices have finish being discovered on your network and the device you need to install to is populated in your device list, you can select one or many devices and press the Install App button. This will attempt to install the app onto the device remotely, ready for having jobs assigned for use on the panel. Once successfully installed a small green check will appear. If the installation was unsuccessful, a warning icon will appear that will provide details of why the installation may have failed.

Assigning Jobs To Devices

Once the device app has been installed onto your MFD and is configured to your Umango instance (cloud or on-premise), jobs must be assigned to devices in order for them to be available for use at the panel. To do this, the device's serial number needs to be assigned as a job source. This can be done in the job's settings (under sources > devices) or from the device's menu.

To add a new device to the available devices list, select the Add Devices button and enter the serial number(s) of the device(s) you would like to have access to Umango. Once this has been done, the device is ready to be assigned jobs.
