Optical Mark (OMR) Zones

When capturing data from a form, Umango can read a mark on the page and interpret the result. This is typically used to read the presents of ink in check boxes.

The resulting values can be any test-based values such as True/False, Yes/No, On/Off, etc. In the case of signature panels, it may be logical to set the values to "Signature Present" and "Signature NOT Present" for example.

When setting up an OMR field in a job, the sample document must be unmarked (ie. no checks, crosses, signature, etc). Umango looks for the addition of ink when checking for optical marks.

Example use cases:

    • A document includes a multi-choice question. Umango reads the mark (eg. check or cross) on the page and then, based on the result, includes a value in an XML file using the Merged Text connector
    • Umango detects the presence of a signature in an allocated signature panel on a document. If the signature is not present, the document is placed into an exceptions folder for review
